José Gabriel Alegría Sabogal
is an artist and art historian.
Born in Berlin, he currently lives and works in Lima, Perú. He studied painting at PUCP (Pontifical Catholic University of Perú) and the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). His postgraduate studies in Art History at PUCP specialized in viceregal religious art and iconography in the South Andes.
His visual work makes use of the line-technique found in renaissance copper plate engraving as applied to drawing. Both the themes and their treatment José explores are essentially anachronistic and follow the initiative of developing a symbolic language that aspires to a timeless nature.
His works have been published by Aeon Sophia Press (Netherlands), Anathema Publishing Ltd. (Canada) and Mount Abraxas (Romania).
José has also developed the visual concept for several musical albums by bands from America and Europe, amongst them Whoredom Rife (Norway) and Inferno (Czech Republic).

José Gabriel Alegría Sabogal
ist Künstler und Kunsthistoriker.
Geboren in Berlin, lebt und arbeitet der Künstler derzeit in Lima, Peru. Er studierte Malerei an der PUCP (Päpstliche Katholische Universität von Peru) und an der Universität von Barcelona (UB). Sein Studium der Kunstgeschichte an der PUCP spezialisierte sich auf vizekönigliche religiöse Kunst und Ikonographie in den Südanden.
Seine visuelle Arbeit verwendet die Linientechnik, die in der Kupferstichgravur der Renaissance zu finden ist, jetzt aber auf das Zeichnen angewendet wird. Sowohl die Themen als auch ihre künstlerische Umsetzung, die José erforscht, sind im Wesentlichen anachronistisch und folgen dem Anliegen, eine symbolische Sprache von zeitloser Natur zu entwickeln.
Seine Werke wurden von Aeon Sophia Press (Niederlande), Anathema Publishing Ltd. (Kanada) und Mount Abraxas (Rumänien) veröffentlicht.
José hat auch das visuelle Konzept für mehrere Musikalben von Bands aus Amerika und Europa entwickelt, darunter Whoredom Rife (Norwegen) und Inferno (Tschechische Republik).
